The Government of Canada has reformed its economic immigration system keeping in consideration the economic and labour market needs and people are invited to immigrate under certain economic programs. The federal economic immigration programs are managed under two processing routes:
Express Entry
· Federal Skilled Worker Program
· Federal Skilled Trades Program
· Canadian Experience Class
· Provincial and Territorial Nominee Programs
· Caregiver Program (Caring for children/people with High Medical Needs & Live-in Caregiver Program)
Immigration program
· Self-Employed Person Program (Business Immigration Program)
· Start-Up Visa Program (Business Immigration Program)
· Provincial nomination program
· Quebec Economic Classes
PROVINCIAL NOMINATION PROGRAMS
To meet their local labour market needs, Canadian provinces and territories can also invite candidates from the Express Entry system through their respective and distinctively named Provincial Nomination Programs. There are many Business Immigration Programs: Federal, Quebec and many business immigration streams under the respective Provincial Nominee Programs. The initial step to express entry programs is to create an Express Entry Profile in the Express Entry Pool. The candidates who fulfill the criteria of Federal Express entry programs and ranked sufficiently high in the Pool are issued Invitation to Apply (IPO). A candidate with a high ranking in the Pool has more chances to be invited to apply for Permanent Residence.
These streams/programs are designed and ensure that all provincial nominees may meet the clearly defined labour market and economic needs. To facilitate applicants, the In Demand Occupation List is regularly updated. Some of the programs and streams are briefly discussed here below.
